Ion Vallianos was born in 1994 in Athens. He graduated from the American Community Schools of Athens through the international program I.B. He then pursued his bachelor's degree at the University of Sussex in the UK where he studied History and Politics (BA Hons). Then he obtained his postgraduate degree from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands in international relations with an emphasis on the EU (MSc European Union in a Global Order). He is now a PhD candidate at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a Junior Research Fellow at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). His doctoral research concerns the European Union and the external dimension of its policies. More specifically, he focuses on the international implications and sustainability of the Common Fisheries Policy. His research is part of the UNESCO Chair for Climate Diplomacy. Since February 2021, he is also a Junior Research Fellow at the Institute of European Integration and Policy of the same university, where he participates in research and educational programs.
